I have a problem that I don't know where to put my left rear speaker. Currently I have some small ones that I used in my condo and it is sitting on my table. Not the cleanest setup, but it kinda works.

I am looking at the RS760s up front and it would be nice if i could get the RS250s for the rears. My other thought is ceiling speakers. Only bad part is the lowered part right above the center sofa is ductwork. If I place the speakers behind it then it may not sound right? In front of the duct and it's not behind you anymore.

Room is roughly 16'x26' to the back wall. about 14 foot to the rear of the sofa.

Suggestions? Pictures below. Everything is a little outa whack from the carpet cleaner :)

Nice place! I would think the same front wall would work for floorstanding speakers. I'm assuming the back couch is your primary listening position? That front end table may cause a little problem.

I have some ductwork running across my main room as well, and I have all my Axiom Qs8's mounted from that framework, works great. Not sure how easy it will be for you to run wiring after the fact? I have some pictures of version 1 and 2 of my theater on my website that shows how I set things up...

Nice room! I would move your front speakers closer to the monitor 24"-30" on each side. And if you want in ceiling speakers consider a pair of ceiling speakers that angle the sound towards the sofa. They are recessed at an angle to direct the sound away from the floor. That would do the trick without cluttering the area behind the sofa. Just place them far enough away (I'm guessing 2 ft.) from the duct as to not interfere with the sound pattern.

Yeah, left surround placement is tough in that room. Maybe you could move the couch over to the left a bit and put the end table to the right of the couch . Then put both surrounds on stands at just beyond 90° to the couch, the right one being just behind the (moved) table. They would be close, but properly calibrated they shouldn't be too noticeable. BTW, RS250s are BIG speakers.

I agree, maybe even closer.

thanks for the words guys. I had the carpet cleaner over and he moved all my stuff around which is why the placement of the LF speaker is way off in left field. too lazy to move it for the picture i guess :P

ill have to look into directional in-ceiling speakers. the other issue is the ductwork. I had a fun time trying to place the can lights because of the all the ductwork upstairs running through the stud spaces.

If i go that route I Will have to wait until i redo the upstairs so that i can cut the floor and run the speaker wire through the top. theres a big steel beam right above the center duct which is why I couldn't tie my lights together (yet).

how important is it for the rear speakers to be large in size compared to the fronts?
