Okay, I have two weeks to finish my home theater room and I need some real cheap speakers.

First question, I have a 8 inch Yamaha powered sub I would like to use in conjunction with another cheap sub. Does that work. Can I just split the sub output from the receiver into the 2 subs. Any problems with buying another 8 inch cheap sub that will work in seamlessly with my old Yamaha. Any suggestions.

Let's say that cheap sub costs around 100. That leaves me with 300.
Any ideas on four bookshelves or surrounds and a center channel that will keep me under budget.

Thanks for the help.

That will work. You can use a y-cable to send the signal to 2 subs.

You could get 3 pairs of the Insignia NS-B2111 speakers from Best Buy. Use one pair for fronts, another pair for surrounds, and one speaker from the last pair as a center (don't use both speakers as a center -- it will not sound as good as just using one). The remaining speaker could be a spare in case one gets damaged (knocked over, etc.) or use it as a rear surround for a 6.1 setup.

Alternately, a 4.1 setup with two pairs of more expensive bookshelf speakers might also be a good option. However, I personally would prefer to have a center speaker.

for those on a really tight budget, Cambridge SoundWorks has a sale going now....consider MC200's for the mains and MC100's for surrounds
