Hello:
I have a Denon 4306 in my family room that switches all my audio/video via HDMI and I am very happy with it.
When I constructed my home theater room I went with a receiver that does not have HDMI inputs. I run HDMI out of all my devices into an HDMI switch then out to the PJ.
My audio is fed via TOSLINK to the receiver.
The sound quality is great on both systems.
However, I was curious about whether I am missing out on better quality audio by using the TOSLINK?
Would I gain anything by upgrading to an HDMI capable receiver (the old one will find a home somewhere in the home so thats not a big deal)?
While I am a n00b when it comes to AV equipment, I am an extreme n00b when it comes to the various audio formats and their limitations.
Thanks in advance for any comments,
Splotto
