Any suggestions please?

You need to get a bright one. Samsung HL-T6187S comes to mind, which is particularly bright. Sony KDS-60A3000 should also fit the bill.

You should read both owner threads here to familiarize yourself with some of the common problems people here have experienced. Read the last few pages of each thread only, as otherwise it would take days.

If you are susceptible to the rainbow effect, any DLP set, such as the Samsung mentioned above, is perhaps not a good choice. However, the mentioned Samsung model uses LEDs instead of the bulb, so there won't be a need to replace any bulbs. However, people have also reported a lot of problems with the Samsung, and perhaps a few less problems with the Sony. Again, you have to read the respective owner threads.

The best advise I can give you is to buy from a store that has a good return policy, whether online or local.

Good luck.

Window treatments, trying to watch video in a brightly lit room is best avoided. Some displays will look less bad than others, none will look nearly as good as in a more subdued environment. Video in a bright room is like cooking in the den, yes, it can be done, but it doesn't make much sense...

It may not make sense but it is what it is. I fully understand it is not an ideal environment. So back to suggestions on the best RPTV for this environment, even though none are ideal.

I would submit that any of the current generation RPTVs will fit the bill, but the Samsung HL-S6188W is known for its retina searing capability. The current generation of units typically have so much light producing capability, you'll probably want to create separate profiles for night and day viewing because the daytime settings you might need to run might very well cause eye fatigue at night.

So what are some of the better 60" projectors? Least problematic. The Samsung scares me with all of the issues. Perhaps they have ironed them out, I don't know.

The Mits 833 series has an antiglare screen and is pretty bright.
