hey folks,

I just want to know if I am right. 2 days ago, I redid the convergence and also set it back to factory defaults. I centered the image on the tube and everything I have learned. Then yesterday, I saw a pdf document about converging/calibrating/configuring a sony 12xx projector. He mentioned there that the green tube will be used as the reference tube so, it shouldn't be moved. However, if you recall above, I mentioned that I centered the image. I also made sure that the projector was on the center of the screen. However, when I projector the crosshatch pattern, the green was WEST of my centerpoint on the screen. I pressed zone and then ADJ G buttons, then followed by the arrows buttons.

So am I correct that I have ruined my green tube position? If so, am I correct that we have to manually move projector until the green center cross is as close as possible to the center mark we put on the screen?

Thanks!

Yes, you may have to move the projector, and yes you will need to recenter the green.

What I have noticed is that even though you may hit dead center on the tube, measuring from the edges of the phosphor, sometimes the phosphor itself is not perfectly on center, or even is rotated compared to the tube frame.. and If you are just a little smidge off center on the tube(actually the lens), you'll be WAY off center on the screen(assuming a *perfect* mechanical alignment). measuring the center of the tube face glass(very front glass), can help, but if this is glued off center, same problem. It is definitely easier to center on phosphor, do a perfect mechanical alignment, and if off, just turn the projector the 1/2 - 2 degrees it takes to line up the green. THEN lock the PJ in place, finish green geometry, and line up the other tubes.
