Please help I want to know that I notice combing artifacts on my standard tv using my ps3 console via componment cables 480i. Do all tv's produce combing in interlace mode 480i, or is my ps3 defective?
Thanks...
Thanks...

Allan Jayne 11-23-07, 07:27 PM Most TV's actually displaying interlaced will reveal some combing artifacts all the time. On non-interlaced monitors and on HDTV's, obtrusiveness of combing artifacts on incoming 480i signals depends on the make and model of TV/monitor. More specifically how the TV constructs full (non-interlaced) video frames given the interlaced video signal. If it simply takes two consecutive (odd and even, or even and odd) fields and merges (weaves) them together, a lot of interlacing artifacts will be seen. Nothing wrong with your PS3.
