My wife is looking at subscribing to Sirius, and I'm trying to sort out the details of what she'll need. After looking a little bit I have to say Sirius doesn't make it easy and I don't know why they don't license their technology to other manufacturers. It is a new (compared to FM anyway) technology I guess.

Anyway, she primarily wants to listen in the car, and she doesn't want to replace her factory radio (it's an '06 Sonata). The factory radio is fairly basic so she would need an FM trasmitter setup...?

She would also like to have a portable player. Right now she has a slick little AM/FM radio with a little LCD display; she would like to have the exact same thing but able to receive Sirius satellite signals.

At home things are more flexible; I have a Pioneer home theater receiver of recent vintage, which is also hooked up to her PC so she could listen online too.

I know I've asked a lot of annoying questions but any help/links would be MUCH appreciated.

The easiest route is to get a Sirius S50 or Stiletto 10 and the car and home kits. The S50 is on sale with the car kit for $180 on Sirius.com. Most car kits are FM transmit but they offer an antenna switch that feeds the satellite signal directly into the radio. Sound quality is the same as FM but if you are sticking with the stock stereo this isn't a real problem. If you car supports and AUX input for MP3 players you can feed the signal in there for better sound.
