Hi all,

I've been a lurker at AVS for quite awhile but tonight I finally got rid of my magenta banding problem. I found the solution hidden deep in a thread on AVS in the Plasma section and no-one else seemed to notice it.

So, since it's solved a month's worth of headaches (and it was happening on my Samsung DLP) I thought it deserved it's own thread here.

Basically, it's all about the coaxial cable coming from the wall into my Motorola HD PVR receiver - I guess there's a grounding issue with the cable itself, and that's a very common thing with cable T.V installs. Anyhow, when I started watching a pre-recorded show on the PVR and reached around to disconnect the coaxial cable going into the Motorola I noticed immediately that the magenta bands disappeared.

So I went out and got a relatively inexpensive surge protecting power bar that has coax ins/outs on it, and sure enough going in from the wall into the power bar and then out of that into the Motorola solved all my problems.

I've gone through 3 5076's at BestBuy because of the banding problem.. so relieved to have finally solved it.

Any thoughts on whether this ungrounded business would cause any damage to the T.V or bulb?

I have the problem on my HLS and I'm going to try your suggestion. Thanks.
