I need your thoughts on the comparison between these 2 sets. This is going in a cabinet so the depth of the unit does not matter.
Watching SD Dish Feed, OTA HD Locals, HDDVD, DVD, and maybe Xbox.
So far I can get these at the following.
Vizio @ $749.00 (Sams)

Sony @ $899.00 (CC)

I was in the store and the Vizio seemed to have off colors. I could be wrong since I didn't have the proper setting to tweak it with.
What do you guys think between these 2 sets. They are both in my price range and to me Sony looked better but I didn't know if it has issues etc.
To add to the deal Sears currently has it listed at $799.00 so I'll have CC price match the Sony 110%. And I'm going to see if this $40 off $200 coupon I have works.

I went ahead and got the Sony for the same price as the Vizio @ CC. Just hooked it up and I'm more than happy with it!
Hello,
Now that you have had the Sony for almost a month now I was wondering how you like it. From the reviews I have read the display is outstanding in standard and hi def. The only thing that I worry about is the bulb.

I'm so glad I got the Sony. It was a no brainer.
My wife said no speakers in the bedroom which is a reasonable quest and I had heard that the Vizio didn't have very good speakers.
Man the Sony does though. It sound like surround just using the TV speakers. I was watching Transformers in HD and my wife came home and told me to turn it down:)
Picture is amazing! Standard def is watchable but HD is where this TV shines.
It fit perfectly in our Armoire with enough space to breath and if very light weight.
I'm very happy with my purchase.
With the price match of Sear's price and the $40 off $200 coupon this set cost me exactly what the Vizio was going for so it was a no brainer.
The bulbs last long enough the cost to replace them is not so bad. I've had my RPTV 65" downstairs for over and year now and we are still going strong on the factory bulb.

I love it. Saved approx. $200 compared to the Tosh and $300 compared to the Samsung flat screens I was looking at which made it a lot easier to pull the trigger. Picture is beautiful and sound is better than any other factory sound system I've heard on a similar sized tv. I think for sound and PQ it equals if not exceeds the others I compared it to.It fits perfectly in our armoir and was only 44 pounds. The 27 inch CRT I had to lug out of there was 98 lbs! Minor adjustments that I found on a similar thread helped some and were much appreciated. I am using the cheapest of RCA cables until my HDMI cables and PS3 get here. I'm no HT expert and am wondering if I'll see a real difference in PQ with the HDMI or if it is mostly hype and modest if any real PQ difference. The price of the HDMI 1.3 cables at monoprice(Thank you again AVS Forums) makes it an easy purchase to experiment with. I could not believe what those things were selling for in the store and other internet sites.

Dogboy---Answer is YES...you'll notice a HUGE difference from RCA to HDMI. HDMI is the only way to get true 1080p.
However this set is a 720p set so Component would be a good alternative as well.
I have a Toshiba HDDVD A2 player hooked up to mine via HDMI and it looks great!
I'm thinking about hooking my Xbox up to it via Component so we'll see how that looks.
Don't forget to change the setting when you get the PS3. I think it comes out of the box configured for 480i so you'll need to change it to output at 720p.

This is an excellent alternative to all of the shortcomings of flat panels, mainly SD pic quality. I went through several flat panels and this one was the one for me since the depth is not an issue with a cabinet. I am impressed with the black levels and the SD quality and the HD quality is just as good or better than any FP I tried. The only thing I ever saw as good was the Panasonic plasma, but they stopped making the 37" model last summer and it was also about 3" taller.
