I'm going to be putting new (not minty, but pretty good) tubes in my 808s. I can hear you chuckling, draganm; shut up. ;) Since I'll have everything apart, it occurred to me that I might want to tint the glycol. So I figure I have some options:

-Not bother.
-Tint my own glycol ala many of the tutorials out there.
-Replace the glycol in the Barco with the tinted glycol in my Sony 1271q.
-Replace the glycol in the Barco with the tinted glycol in my BV600. Probably not enough as the BV600 is 7". Also, it's old old old.
-Put the 1271's glycol in the 808, and put the 600's glycol plus filler in the 1271, yielding somewhat-tinted in the 1271 so it's not total crap. This seems like a lot of work for a kludge.

But I'd rather not destroy the PQ in the 1271 completely as it's a really nice rig. I'm not sure what I'll use it for, though, and I certainly won't use it as much as the 808.

I'm really leaning toward wanting to find some solution (ha! ha!) though, because the colors on the 1271 are just fantastic, and I'd hate to set up the 808 and say, "Ennnh... better take it down and tint it!"

Advice?

I pulled the color filtered glycol out of my Barco Data 801s and put it in my Marquee 8000, the difference in color was very impressive, but my Barco had burned in tubes and didn't power up. Your 1272 works fine so I would keep it that way and see if you can find somone to sell you filtered glycol.

Try Curt Palme, I bet he has some from set's that he's scrapped out

*smacks forehead* Should have thought of that. I'll give him a holler.

The other option is to try to find some HD145s and adapt them, but I think that's a bridge too far budget wise right now.
