I've got a Vision 3....super image, with a Vidikron (Faroudja) processor on a 102" stewart. Can a Vision 3 be pushed to 720p or even higher?

And I'm thinking of selling it....Glossy black case low hours. Anyone know what she's worth? How do I find a loving home for her? Kinda like a pet that needs a home.

I'm going digital, Yeah, I know there isn't anything like a well dialed in CRT, but I always feel like I have to baby it. I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy a JVC DLA-HD1 or 100 (haven't decided) and just beat the crap out of the cheaper digital box, letting the kids watch cartoons for hours etc.

Yeah, it's got the s maller 8" tubes, but when fully dialed in on a 100" screen, Ill put it up against the bigger tubes for picture quality from my Meridian 800.

Anyway, I need a good home for her.
Thanks

Looking? He found it What's it worth. Its a what Electrohome 8500 non LC? The case is worth more than the insides. What's it worth Curte. $1000 as a whole? Parting it out might get a little more.

Mark, why is anyone going to answer his questions? He's got one post here, the info he seeks are available in the search engine here, on my site, and as to the value, check eBay, videogon, etc. It's a thinly veiled 'for sale' ad that should be in the marketplace section.

EVERYONE claims that their sets have low hours on it, no tube wear, blah blah.

I don't even buy these sets anymore at this point, unless they are literally given to me and I cover shipping.

This stuff is not my profesion so I guess his post doesn't bother me that much. My only point is that it is not worth very much. I wonder how many AVS members are still using FP CRTs and what the attrition rate is. Maybe what 1000? With a loss of what 250 per year now. I dunno. Just guessing.

It's kind of funny they're worth so little, really. I know they're big, heavy, hard to set up... but are people that unwilling to spend a bit of time? In terms of overall "do I want to watch a movie on this" my 1271, set up badly and barely resolving 600p, completely clobbers a $3500 Mitsubishi HC5000 1080p PJ sitting on top of it. After you set the HC5000 to get better black level - which is still abjectly awful - and reasonable colors, the 1271 actually appears to be *brighter*, and for watching movies, where there are lots of flashbang kind of lighting moves, *feels* like it's ten times brighter.

So yeah... the idea that the things will be seen as garbage - even the ones that can easily resolve 1080p - is kind of crazy. I feel like somebody ought to be collecting the things for posterity. And I'm not talking about guys who have big stacks of G90s in their kitchens, either (glare) :)
