hi guys,

I invited my 2 young boys to watch War of the Worlds. They're still watching. :D

Let me jump directly to the scene. Hehehe. Tom Cruise with his kids went to his x-wife's house. They went to the basement and slept there for safety. However, at the middle of the night, the tripods attacked again. The house got hit. After few seconds after the attack, there was total silence and total darkness. Honestly, I barely saw my 2 kids. My 2 kids asked me what happened to the projector, "I don't see any light anymore". They thought it died. I knew it was ok because of the fan and the led at the back because I was behind it. Hehehe. Then when the scene was coming up again, I saw Karl looking at the lens. HAHAHA!

"Son, some day you will learn the zen of black level. Until then - watch the damn movie. It may be the last time you see Tom Cruise before he completely jettisons his career in favor of a relentless, soul-destroying cult."

Completely off topic, but what I really loved about this movie was the no-holds barred intenseness. The aliens are completely merciless! It's for this exact reason I'd never show it to young kids. I'm almost 40 and I was frightened! :)

From a rating guide:

"MANY intense, frightening, disturbing scenes throughout, including the kinds of scenes where its all quiet and then suddently... BAM! a guy gets killed with a giant martian laser/arm beam thing. Not for little kids!"

Meh. That movie was a disappointment for me. The previews made it seem like there was going to be this huge battle between men and aliens, but that didn't happen. The story and acting were good, but it just wasn't what I was expecting. I'm an action type of guy, not an "awww look at that character development and complex emotions" guy.

Yeah, I really made a wrong decision there. It won't happen again.

Funny though, my son would butt in and would asked what software they use to create the laser beam effect and the people turning into ashes effect.

Me too, I expected that too but the story was written in a different way. It should have been "Alien Invasion and Defeat" :D LOL Of course, we won't see an alien win in a movie against mankind. Hahaha.

I watch this movie from time to time because the displays/decors on the top of the cabinets would move/rattle during low freq sounds. I love the feeling. However, that sub of mine will soon be parting out ways with me. :(

The next movie I want to buy is Bruce's last Die Hard. However, it's only in BR. :(

Reminds me of a kid around the corner who's parents used to let him watch Chucky and Freddy. He was about 7 at the time...

Hahaha :p

I'm sure it always boils down to how the parents takes care of their children. I've witnessed few incidents where people were killing each other with a knife/gun about 30 ft away from where I stand in our street. Another one was even closer when a guy died in front of our neighbor's car. I witnessed them when I 8 to 12 yrs old. Man, that's what I call really horrifying moment! My legs became so weak while witnessing it that I couldn't even move 1 step.

However, I am very proud of my parents that I never have those kind of bad attitudes. They took care of us very well. And even more very thankful to them that I got very good education and glad that I made it to U.S. and that I'm giving awesome education for my kids as well here and a happy God-fearing family!

Yeah, I think that pretty much sums up the movie tastes of ALL guys! Self included! :D
