I'm looking into a Tuner/DVR for my MacBookPro:
Any comments about both of these solutions or is there a third one to look into?

JJJ, there are plenty of tuner/DVR options, from cheap USB sticks to firewire devices to the HD Homerun, an ethernet networked dual tuner. Perhaps you should start by sharing what shows you'd like to record and how you presently receive TV (analog, digital, ATSC, QAM?)

I only have basic analog cable.
I think I would like to get OTA digital.
I use it with a MacBookPro.

I only have basic analog cable.

well, in most jurisdictions that means you'll be able to record the unencrypted high def QAM channels. So if the national networks in high def interests you--go with the HD Homerun, or pick up an EyeTV500 from Craigslist or e-Bay. Both have dual inputs and can do QAM and ATSC--one advantage of the HD Homerun is that it has two independent tuners, so you can record two shows at once. You'd have to buy two 500s for that capability. A second advantage of the Homerun is that it is ethernet network based.

If you didn't care about recording QAM, but did want to record low res analog cable channels--which the HD Homerun or 500 cannot do--then go with the Hybrid.
