Hey all,
So I've noticed a strong humming sound in my receiver, and followed the advice in this forum on how to isolate the problem, which ended up being my incoming Cable connection. (I have Digital Cable, with a HD-DVR)
I should mention here that I live in an apartment complex, and don't have access to a lot of information about the wiring situation here I might have if I lived in my own home.
I've seen people mention Grounding Blocks like these... (link (http://www.partsexpress.com//pe/showdetl.cfm?&User_ID=16088947&St=1227&St2=-57184423&St3=72579927&DS_ID=3&Product_ID=2245&DID=7))
But how do I install one? Does this grounding block need to be grounded itself to remove the hum, or will simply plugging the cable line into this solve the problem?
I've seen people mention Ground Breakers like this... (link (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=180-075))
But on this webpage, it's noted that this can interfere with my digital cable. Is this true?
I realize that a perfect ground is the only safe solution, but with the limited authority and knowledge of our wiring situation, I'd just like the most simple way to remove the hum without messing up my digital cable. And even though I see no scrolling lines in my television, I'd like to know that the bad signal isn't making its way to my TV (or receiver).
Thanks in advance.
