i think we all agree the kuro has the better black. but it has been said that in a dark room is where it shines and the true black shines through. now the question, in a room with plenty of light (nothing over the top but a well lit room) will the kuro best the panny in blacks? is light the great equalizer? i ask because i rarely watch tv in the dark. i`ve got young kids and a wife that believes in supporting the power company.
Go to the well lit showroom and look for yourself...
In one store I've seen Pioneers and Panasonics in well lit showroom and to my eyes Pioneers' picture was better, even better than 50" PZ750.
In another store I've seen Panasonics and Samsings and Samsung looked better to me.
Now I will be looking for a store with Pioneers and Samsungs on the wall...
On the other hand if you watch TV with kids and plenty of light maybe you need an LCD? Like XBR4 or Samsung 71 or 81 series?
Nah, you don't want an LCD :p
Yeah, check them out at the store and play with the settings.

I had a Samsung 71 series. I was not terribly impressed. Swapped it for a Pioneer and could not be happier.

I'm wondering the same thing, although I still haven't gotten around to seeing both in cation side be each. I'm trying to choose between the 6010 and the 58PZ700. At roughly $1400 cheaper, the Panny sure sounds good.

Even under the 1000 watt metal halide bulbs in Best Buy, the Kuro line noticeably outperforms every Panasonic plasma when it comes to blacks. There is no question. The only plasmas capable of competing at first glance are the Samsung 84s, but even these are not quite up to snuff if you really look for the blacks.
