so i have a new HTIB.hooked to my Samsung 4254 using HDMI.
My question is why in 16:9 is there still bars at the bottom and top? its 16:9 for both player and tv....
dumb question I know

I assume you are having this on DVD's. If a DVD is 2.35:1 there will be black lines top and bottom. 1.78:1 or 1.85:1 will fit on 16:9 displays. 1.33:1 will have black lines on the sides. It's been answered often on AVS, but I was feeling friendly :D.

It just depends. Most that are original director's cut are, but many are edited to fit widescreen TV's. Some are for non HD tv's and are in 1.33:1 or 4:3.
Take a look on the back of the Movie Case. It normally will tell you the Aspect Ratio. Most movies will have Bars on top and bottom. Especially newer movies.
