Wondered if anyone might have an answer to this question. I have a 37" Panny PX50U that's been (and still is) a fantastic set. Recently i've noticed while watching a movie, that when the screen goes to an all black segment such as in between chapter breaks during previews, or the initial start up of the film, that I can see a difference of black level on the screen. Simply put, if you were to divide the screen with a horizontal line exactly half way up, the upper half of the pic is a shade darker than the lower half. It is VERY slight (and you will only notice this viewing in a dark room environment), but still noticeable when looking for it. You usually can not see it when the movie is playing (although I just played 'Vacancy' this weekend and for the first time I detected it during the extremely dark scenes). I do not think this is any kind of burn issue because i've never had a static pic on this set that would have created such a divide. PLUS .... I do not see this at all viewing OTA or when the set is on a different input ( and showing a black background) it's strictly related to movie playback. I've currently tried (2) different DVD players and the same results. I also tried going from my component cables to an s-vid cable to see if it was a cable issue, nope, same results. So i'm thinking it must be somewhere in the sets video playback processing circiut. Anyone have any ideas or perhaps have noticed this themselves???

This is not really a big issue cause as I said earlier, that on all the hundreds of movies i've watched i've only spotted it once during actual playback during the movie ...... i'm just more curious as to what may be causing this and if anyone else has seen this on their displays.

I have the exact same thing on my NEC 50XM5. I think its just something with the way they were manufactured.
