Hi, should i have a ferrite thing around the actual cable that goes into my plasma? like the regular TV cable part that screws into the TV. (not HDMI or anything) just the regular analog cable. Let me know thanks

It's primarily to prevent ground-loop hum. If you don't have any, don't worry about it.

i dont know what ground loop hum is.. but i do have the ferrite on the power cord as well as the hdmi cord at the ends closest to the TV. so would it even do anything to the analog cable?

if you had ground loop hum, you'd know what it was....

google is your friend... :)

as far as "should you have something"... don't go looking for solutions to problems you don't have... ;)

Those ferrite "things" that are sometimes put on cables are there to reduce EMI (electromagnetic interference), to meet RF noise radiated emission standards for "computing / digital equipment". These standards are imposed by the FCC or foreign regulatory agencies to make sure that equipment will be reasonably compatible (ie your PC computer won't disrupt your cell phone communication quality).

These ferrite filters do nothing to enhance the picture or audio quality of the device its attached too, although some "high-end" (high profit) cable companies say they do. Its just marketing pseudo-science.
