All I need the recorder is to make DVDs from my Sony camcorder Hi-8 and Mini DV tapes and play it on my dvd player.

All my mini-dv tapes recorded on Sony HC42 camcorder are Widescreen (16:9 format) since my TV is 56" Samsung HD TV.

Would DMR-ES15S be a good choice.. I see some people complaning that it does not record (create DVD) in widescreen format on DVD discs... It creates on DVD-RAM only...

Since I have it 16:9 recorded on mini-dv, won't it record in 16:9 on dvd discs?

Please help.
