I own ~100 HDM titles and a low-end display(Insignia 42" plasma)
PS3 via HDMI

Troy DC(BD) and Close Encounters have stuttering issues in a few, brief scenes in both movies. Is this my display, or is it the media?

None of my other titles show ANY signs of this stuttering/frame skipping and I have rented about 100 on top of what I own. These two titles are the only ones giving me trouble with this issue.

I posted in this forum because Troy DC is released on both formats, and those who frequent the BD software forum seem to be less adept at giving useful information.

Are you on the latest ps3 firmware? My copy of Troy on BD played fine. I received my copy of Close Encounters on BD earlier this week, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet.

I would guess it is your media and not your display. Possibly a player hiccup. I'd guess that maybe there is a little bit of dirt or something on the disc giving it a little bit of an issue in a couple of places.

Does it stutter in the same spots ?

Meaning, if the movie stutters, you press rewind and playback the same part does it stutter ?

btw:
I watched both of those and no stutters(BD-P1200).
I did have a stutter issue with one scene in Spiderman 2.1 but I hit rewind and played it back and the same spot did not have a stutter.

Troy DC does it in the same place and I bought it new.
Yes I have the latest firmware.

Close Encounters was a rental, so it may have been scuffed, and I did not get the chance to rewatch it, and did not think to rewind it. It happens in fast motion scenes though, which made me wonder if it has something to do with the fact that my display doesn't support 24p(that I know of at least.)

It is definitely not judder (24fps to 60Hz) that you are seeing. You have to know what you are looking for, look close, and would see only in certain scenes (usually a camera pan) and all credits.
