A funny thing happened to me today. My wife ordered a 19 - 22 lb bird from a turkey farm about 12 miles from our house and asked me to pick it up. This place raises tens of thousands of turkeys but sells freshly slaughtered turkeys to the general public over the holidays. You go there, tell them the size you ordered, pick it up and pay for it.

When I got there I remembered the size my wife wanted as 29 - 32 lbs. I ended up taking a 34 1/2 pound turkey or roughly one 15 lbs too big,

I went home and put it in the refrigerator. I called my wife and asked here what was the size she told me. She thought I was joking when I told here about the big bird I picked up by mistake. She wasn't happy at all.

My 31 year old daughter saw it in the refrigerator and remarked "Dad! Next to you that's the biggest turkey I've ever seen!"

Happy Thanksgiving all. Thanks for being here.

Ahhhhhh, the time of year to gain a few pounds.........

Happy Turkey Day all!

Tomorrow is my Bday and unfortunately I've become sick so I guess I'll just have to be stuck in the theater all day.

On the bright side, you have more than enough experience to ceiling mount and calibrate it if necessary.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, a Happy Thanksgiving to all of our southern friends.

Now if some of you kind British folk would send me a 'bird' to stuff, I'd be forever grateful, and I'd be 'all in'.:D

Curt,

All our birds have the flu and I'd hate to see you queuing outside the h5n1 clinic again! :D

I suppose this is the time of year where we count our blessings and give thanks for what we have. Just wanted to say thanks to all of you CRT folk that have helped me over the past year or two with answering the same questions over and over again. I am honored to call myself one of you now. Many thanks for all of your help and patience.

Happy Thanksgiving Charlie Brown!

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving all!

(31.5lb bird! You're bought the patriarch! They didn't even have to chase that sucker.) :D What do you stuff it with....a chicken? :p

God. No offense. None of you can remember a few posts deep. If only it was only 31.5, its 34.5. With 8 people coming, that means 4.5 lbs per person uncooked weight. We have large roasting pans but nothing that big. She went out this morning to find a bigger pan. The oven will hold it but my wife will have to start cooking it at 5AM, about the time Cliffy catches a quick nap. I trust she will be getting me up then too so we can jointly suffer.

She surprised me earlier this week. She agreed to pay half of our neighbors new snow plow for his truck. He plows us for free. Only set me back $3K.

Hey Mark, can I borrow the Miata to take your daughter on a date? :D
Better yet, can I just take your daughter on a date, minus the Miata?

Yes. But I am, of course, biased.

I'll rent a limo for your date. I, of course, will pay for the wedding. It will make the snow plow sound cheap.

I am in deep organic fertilizer over this freekin turkey. The oven will hold it but the cheapest pan large enough to roast the turkey in costs $150. My handy man called from the house and said my wife had taken the turkey out for a drive! She evidently found some place that would cook it tomorrow morning for her. I am scared to ask her for the specifiics. I'll let you all know if she tells me without killing me. Remember that football coach who blew up in mid season when asked about the playoffs? Whatever question I ask my wife is going to set off a tirade that will make that coach look like a saint!

My daughter called me at my store and said Mom went out with the girls to eat Greek food tonight. A small local bakery is cooking the turkey for us in one of its bread ovens. The owner is going to the shop early Thanksgiing morning to cook my turkey and large turkeys for three three customers. I am never going to be able to live this one down

Maybe you can make a bunch of turkey sandwiches for the salvation army or some other good cause. The mother of all turkeys shouldn't have died in vain :D
