Wow, the achievements in mass effect are so cool. Almost all of them have something associated to it in the game. For example, if you get the marksman achievement for killing 150 people with a pistol, you also get a talent boost in the game. It adds 25% to your marksman. Almost all achievements are like this in Mass Effect. They tie to increases in your character stats or increases your damage protection or your health, etc. So its not just an empty achievment to say you got it, you now also get something for them in your game. Pretty slick.

Totally agree on Dead Rising. The Zombie Road and Strike! were especially fun.

I think Avatar has the best achievements ever. 1000 in 2mins.

Mass Effect's take how long?

Orange Box has achievements very much like Tomb Raider Legend. 50% of them you get by playing through the game, the other 50% you get by doing something special. Seems like a very good balance to me. Dead Rising seemed rather stingy with it's handing out of achievements.

still dont care about 'em. if you got the extra stuff and didnt hear/see the notice, you'd still get the extra stuff but it would look more like an upgrade than an achievement, like CoD4.

I haven't checked'em out yet, but, this is great news! Finally, some relevance! Good job Bioware, and thank you!

I was look at the ME achievements while taking a break from playing. Best to date on any game I own.

Yeah the cool thing is that when you get one, it changes your game, gives you extra abilities/powers/enhances things, etc. Its not just doing something for the achievement, getting it actually changes the game.

I got ME the day I left for vacation. I started playing it last night and read through the achievements. Any idea how many play throughs it would take to get them all? I know it will take at least two and you'll have to beat it on insane. Some of them seem to require use of different character builds that might not happen in two or even three play throughs.
