Guys,

Just got a HD cable box last night. My Sony HDTV only has one HDMI input in.

If I use the Y, Pb, Pr, and for sound red/white rca would that consider "High Deniftion"?:p I would come in from my cable box to the TV. I see the diagram labeled as HD in my cable manual.

Would I be better off getting a HDMI switch for the cable box and my receiver.

I have an oppo 970HD with an Onkyo SR604.

Right now the Oppo is going into the Onkyo via HDMI then from that it goes into the TV via HDMI.

We don't watch regular tv with the receiver on.

The easiest and cheapest solution would be to purchase a component cable for the video and a cable for the audio rca, optical or digital. (which depends on what your STB and receiver have available).

Would that still give me an "HD" picture/sound if go that route?

Yes, HD can be via component. L/R Red White audio would not be X.1 though.

Yes that would be considered Component Connection for HD and digital transmission.
