I have 2 Panasonic E85h 120GB DVD Recorders. I have tons of dvd discs that aren't formatted. I have around 600 discs(only around 200 are formatted).
So my question is if I put the NON FORMATTED disc into another DVD recorder would it read it?
If I can't read it would I be able to format the disc atleast????????

I want to buy the Philips 160GB DVD Recorder (DVDR3575H/37) because it can pause live tv(i have a PVR so i know how to use that feature).
But before I buy it I want to make sure I can format my discs that aren't already formatted.
If I won't be able to format(finalize) the discs I recorded from my Panasonic
E85h. Could i buy another PANASONIC DVD RECORDER and format it there?
If i buy a regular Panasonic DVD recorder(NO HARD DRIVE IN THE UNIT) would i be able to finalize my discs that I recorded on the Panasonic E85h?
sorry for all the questions...i hope someone can help

unfinalized discs can't be read in other players or recorders.
You may be able to finalize your discs with another Panasonic recorder, a poster on this forum was able to so with discs recorded on an es20 - the discs were finalized on a es15.
it's a pretty sure bet the Philips won't be able to finalize your discs.

I have the Pan E85 and a Pan dvd recorder/vcr combo E30 (non hard drive), and unfinalized discs made on the 85, will play in the E30, and will finalize it.
You will not, I believe, be able to play unfinalized discs made on one unit, on another unit manufactured by a different company.

Do you mean "finalized" instead of "formatted"?
All discs are pre-formatted. You need to finalize discs before they will play on other DVD machines.
Whether you can format non-finalized discs on other machines, I don't know.

thanks guys
i guess i will buy the Panasonic EH55 200GB then(damn $488 PLUS TAX).
Or I will buy the Philips 160GB DVD Recorder($330 with tax) and a regular NON HARD DRIVE Panasonic DVD recorder. This method will cost more then $488 though.
I RELLY WANT to pause live tv on my dvd recorder though. Oh well.
