I have a passive subwoofer :( (I know)....... Recently I've been getting a lot of vibration in the sub (sounds like farting noise) it never used to happen. I'm wondering is the subwoofer worn out or is there another issue. Its a Sony DAV-FX900W.... I'm going to call sony and see how much a replacement sub will be (my warranty expired like a couple days ago). I was thinking to even open it up but, it seems like it was glued together... Any help will be truly appreciated...

I had this happen on a sub before. Check for less screws on the sub and tighten them.

My first sub (a Sony) would audibly resonate and make those noises when pushed even moderately hard. Basically, get another sub that's not a Sony.

Where would you guys recommend me to purchase a passive sub from?

Why do you want a passive?

Because I have a HTIB and I'm unable to buy a Reciever at this time. I am looking at the Sony STR5300ES for my next purchase sometime in O8... Unless you can provide me with a way to connect a powered sub to my HTIB (with proprietary connection) I'll be really grateful....
