I'm wondering whether I need to do astigmatism adjustment. All tubes are factory sealed with silicone. Displaying an external dot pattern from AVIA and ramping the electronic focus up and down, the dots are not perfectly round and the bright core is not shown distinctively inside the flare.

The actual image quality of my projector is good though. Any way to check the astigmation is off and how to adjust a correct astigmation.

Thanks

Ricky

Set all focus controls and electronic astig adjustments to normal and ramp the electronic focus up and down for each color. If the dot moves position, then you would benefit from redoing astig. I did all three colors today and it took around an hour using the pattern in DVE. Use this guide from Curt's site and set contrast to 100:

Also, make sure you go back and forth among the 2 pole, 4 pole, and 6 pole magnets because they each affect each other. And be prepared to redo raster centering since the astig magnets and raster centering magnets affect each other.

Hi NautikaL,

Thanks for the astigmatism adjustment instruction.

....ramp the electronic focus up and down for each color. If the dot moves position, then you would benefit from redoing astig.

Would you explain how does it look like if the dot moves postion. Is that the bright core is moving inside the flare while ramping the focus up and down? I don't understand why the 2, 4, 6 pole magnets are off. They are all factory sealed with silicone. Same as your post in other thread, my projector also has dots in triangular shape at edges and corners. Have you fixed the triangular shape dots?

Ricky

Astig is preset for a specific location on earth, as it is affected by Earth's magnetic field.

Manufacturers have the capability to preset the astig for any given place on the planet when you provide them your longitude/latitude.
Of course not every application needed that precision, so you could find PJs using a standard astig setup for North America in Asia, and the settings could then be off.

Since you are located in Hong Kong, that may just be the case.

I bought the XG135 from local authorized dealer years ago. It is powered by 220V. I don't think it is a North America version. I believe the astig was preset in Japan and shipped here without touch up or fine tune by local technican. They delivered it to me in "as is" condition. May be because the astig preset was done when the PJ was rest on table. After I hang it to ceiling, the PJ is upside down. Would this affect the pole magnets?
