View Full Version : Interlace Issue on Dell 2407WFP-HC@1920x1080?
Hey all,
Here is my setup:
1. 360 Elite
2. Monoprice HDMI cable running through this Monoprice HDMI switch: 4X2 True Matrix HDMI 1.3a Powered Switch w/ Remote Controller (VER. 1.0)
3. Monoprice HDMI-to-DVI cable connected to a Dell 2407WFP-HC monitor
I have my 360 Elite set to 1920x1080 resolution. Everything works fine, but I see horizontal lines on the bottom half of the monitor when I'm looking at my 360's signal.
I also see text repeated on the screen. For example, on Halo 3's title screen the logo is in the bottom right-hand corner. In the bottom left-hand corner I see the Halo 3 logo repeated in these horizontal lines.
This is only a problem with my 360 Elite's signal. I have my Playstation 3 set to 1080p and it works like a charm. It's running through the same Monoprice switch and hasn't had any issues. I haven't gone whole-hog and started unplugging stuff, but I did move the 360 to a different plug on the switch (from 3 to 4) and it didn't make any difference.
Is this an interlacing issue? Can the 360 Elite only do 1080i, and not 1080p? From what I understand, the 360 Elite's HDMI is 1.2 (the PS3 is 1.3), and my switch is 1.3a. Would that make a difference?

By the way, this is what it looks like. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/9505666@N07/2053501687)
try some different resolutions - your panel will have to scale any resolution sent anyway. im sure you have already done that but let us know.
wuzup101 11-22-07, 09:27 PM I have that problem on my 2407 too (non HC... rev A02). I was using VGA and I would get the lines you describe, but they were no where near as bad as pictured in that link. This only happened when displaying at 1920x1200 or 1080p over component. I'm not sure if this was from the scaling or what, but when I turned it down to 720p it looked perfect. Alternatively, I was able to get the lines out by adjusting the sharpness from 50 to 30 (or something - think it was sharpness...).
Yeah, one of the guys on NeoGAF suggested turning the sharpness down to 30, and to my amazement it worked! Setting the sharpness to 30 causes the lines to vanish, but any setting above or below 30 causes them to reappear. Bizarre.
In summary:
If you have an Xbox 360 Elite hooked up to a Dell 2407WFP-HC over HDMI to DVI and see black horizontal lines, set your monitor sharpness to 30. Problem solved. :)
Thanks for the help guys.

newfmp3 11-23-07, 09:43 PM same lcd here.
had issues with cheap vga cables at first. Using the MS one now and it's as good as can be. I too had the interface and ghosting around text.
This is actually a very nice monitor, granted I'll take my plasma over it any day, but the picture on this little thing is pretty darn good for a pc lcd monitor.

How did you get this display to do 1080P over component? I just got the 2707WFP-HC and can only get a 720P and 1080i signal to come through. However, the 1080i shakes a little but there is no way I can get 1080P through component.

That's interesting. So, you had the 360 setup to output 1920 x 1080P and the 2407 setup to NOT stretch that to 1920 x 1200? Is that the setup that has the black horizontal lines? I can't imagine how adjusting the sharpness control fixed it, but I can't argue with success. I may experiment a bit with this. I have an older Dell 2405 that is generally uninteresting for use with the 360 due to it's lack of HDCP support, but I may try it. I do remember trying the 2405 via component cable from the 360. There, it didn't support 1080P. What was even stranger, is that via DVI, it doesn't support 1080i from my HD camcorder.
P.J.
Exghoulfiend 01-24-08, 10:35 PM Well, I just picked up the VGA cable for the 360 cand hooked it up to my 2707WFP-HC. It looks sooo much better than the 720P through component looked. Most people well say "Well yea, duh," but I thought the 720P looked really bad compared to the 720P on my Sony RP-LCD that sits in my living room.
I'm running the monitor in 1:1 so I do have the black lines on the top and the bottom. I think it looks better than the vertical stretch it does with the Fill option.
I also don't have much interlace issues at all. It looks washed out some compared to component but overall it still looks much better and performs better.
Happy camper!
