View Full Version : Wanna 360 for Xmas!!! Best deal please...
Caribwoy2000 11-22-07, 09:21 AM Been waiting for an Xbox that runs ice cold ;)
But with all the great games out I can't handle it anymore..
So what's the best deal, time period to get a Pro system guys...
Kind of a casual gamer nowadays so I don't need the elite mega HD. Dunno if I real like the gay Halo controller but I'll stick the console behind my tv anyways. So should I get the Halo console for a definite Falcon setup or look thru my local Costco stock for a FDOU xxxx date???
Please help me renew my addiction
Ole CS junkie:cool:
257Tony 11-22-07, 09:43 AM If you want cheap and cool running, by a broken one on ebay and fix it yourself. Replace the fans and do all the proven cooling mods. Should run you around $250 for the whole thing....I have done several for friends.
mlbrand 11-22-07, 09:53 AM The best deal I've seen is a Walmart "Secret In-Store Special" for tomorrow on 360's with a $50 gift card. The 360 prices look the same in this ad, but I don't think I've ever seen 360's marked down on price anywhere, so the gift card offer is probably the best value you will find. Check out this link for the Walmart ad; http://holiday.ri-walmart.com/?section=secret&utm_source=Walmartcom&utm_medium=POV1&utm_content=secret1&utm_campaign=holiday
Caribwoy2000 11-22-07, 10:21 AM $50 Gift card is not bad at all... I had a look at some of the bundles..are these online only or available instore and therefore applicable to the Gift card? Or is the gift card available online as well Fri am..
I'm confused!!! and lazy about havin to go wait in long lines

I'm pretty sure the 360 w/gift card offer is in-store only. I hate long lines too, but it depends on how much $50 means to you, and how much you value your sleep! The good news is that the 360 deal will not be the only reason people are there, so if you get there reasonably early I'll bet you have a pretty good chance of snagging a 360 without a real long wait.
On the other hand..., if you are gonna' try to get one of the 32" 720p LCD's for $450 or the 42" 1080p LCD for $800, you better get up REAL early and plan to stand in line for quite awhile! Walmart is really turning up the marketing machine this year, those are some amazing prices for LCD TV's.

Well off I went to the Walmart at 10.40... just a few minutes left on the deal!.... Sold out at the Electronics counter but he said there may be left in the Ship to Store area: 2 LEFT
I asked the girl to see both boxes and lo and behold ONE of them was a FDOU lot 741 with the 175 watt power supply label. SCORE !!!!!!
A new Falcon 360 and a $50 gift card to buy a game with!!!
Thanks sooooo much guys ... now to see whether the woman wants to wrap it up till Christmas or whether I can get online now!!!:D
BTW any ideas for a wireless "hub" for the 360 and my dvd player ( yeah I got a wireless router in the other room)
Cheers Julian

That's cool Julian! A great buy and the latest model! I just picked up an Elite a few days ago. It is the third 360 I have bought for our family, with my 3 sons using the other two. We were just having a family Halo 3 battle this afternoon. Welcome to the X-Box family! (no ideas on a wireless hub, my house is hardwired).

If you can find a 360 at a participating retailer this offer might get you $50:

Got a link to the cooling mods? I have a relatively new 360 (Halo Box) but didn't get the Falcon board (hell I didn't even get the extra heatsink) so I know it's gonna **** the bed within the next two years. Instead of sending it into MS and getting a refurb that'll red ring within a month I figure when it inevitably dies I'll add some cooling fans, replace the thermal paste (ahem I mean thermal cement) with Arctic Silver 5, and dispose of those god forsaken x-clamps. I'd like some instructions to guide me through it however, as I don't wanna run in blind.

Apparently they're not sending back refurbs anymore, but remanufactured units with very recent build dates. I received an oct 07 build box with whisper quiet DVD drive back and there are reports around here of people getting nov 07 builds in return.
Whether it makes a difference long term remains to be seen but they *have* changed their repair practices; they're not just re-seating the chips and adding a heatsink, they are completely reworking the boxes.

I was under the impression that's only if you have the extended warranty, otherwise you get a refurb with the same innards. My friend's sister sent her box in a few weeks ago, got it back, powered it on, and it red ringed immediately.
Senior Citizen discount tomorrow morning at Meijers. Anyone over 60 gets 15% off.
fjtorres 11-30-07, 03:39 PM I didn't have any extended warranty.
I sent in a Jan 06 box and got back a clean, apparently new, Oct 07 box (without HDMI, alas). ;-)
Remanufacturing is, to my understanding, a new box with some used parts, as opposed to a refurbished system, which is an old box reworked.
spyder696969 11-30-07, 06:49 PM Best deal ever: Buy RoD 360 with everything included somewhere for $50-$60. Do the X-Clamp mod for $5 and never have to worry about it dying ever again. Total cost = $55-$65. Forget about Talon boards, 66.666 picometer chips, titanium heatsinks, dilithium crystal cooling, and Flux Capacitors and enjoy.
