View Full Version : DVI-to-VGA decision

My setup has been using HDMI/DVI sources (none 1080p yet) and sending DVI to the original DC-DA1 DVI Link DVI-to-VGA converter (handles handshakes, etc.). It then goes vga/bnc dongle out to a 5 bnc RGBHV cable that travels 20 ft or so to my ceiling mounted pj, which, until last week was a Runco 930. It died.

So...as I think about purchasing a modded Marquee 9500 Ultra in order to do 1080p (and let the digital world work it out for another year or two) I am evaluating if that setup will give me my best shot at beautiful 1080p (for Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, etc.). Enter the Moome internal card idea. It would require me to lay HDMI up in the ceiling, etc which is a PITA, but I'll do it if it means MUCH better PQ (and will be required once I go digital anyway, someday).

Do I need to make the converter change? What are the downsides of the current setup? Thx
