I have been reading the AVS forum for a while before buying my home theater equipment. I have taken the forum advice on my new speakers - Yamaha NS-555 - and I am very pleased with them. Now I am thinking of buying a subwoofer as well. I have selected 2 basic models. My receiver is also from Yamaha - HTR 6030 -

My Yamaha subwoofer options are :

1 - Yamaha YSTSW011
2 - Yamaha YSTFSW100

The first model has a basic design. The second model is slim and stylish made to be placed against the wall. I don't really care about how it looks as long as the overall sound improves. They both cost the same $200 bucks, therefore I would like to ask the following basic questions:

1- Question: Will the subwoofer enhance significantly the sound of my NS-555 speakers? Is it really worth buying?

2- Question: Which one "sounds better" ?

How big is the room? I have the YSTFSW100 and it put out pretty good bass for its size in a 14x14 room.But now I moved and my livingroom is now 15x30 and I can't even hear it at all now.Time for a 12" for me.

It is bigger then 14x14 but smaller then your living room. I think I get the picture :) maybe the 11b would be better.
