Hi!

I'm looking for a simple camcorder that I can play back on DVDs. I obviously no nothing about these things and would like a few suggestions to look into. Budget is 150-300. My wife and I had twins 4 months ago and she's in desperate need of home movies by Christmas. :)

TIA

I started my hunt to replace our older Sony D-8 a few days back and from what I've gathered, the best camcorder for the money (in somewhat of your budget) is the Panasonic SDR-H18 ,which can be had at outlets like Best Buy and Circuit City for about $350

this camcorder is a single CCD and records to HardDrive
Cnet.com has it ranked in it's Top 5 Camcorders for 2007

Thanks for the suggestions. Like an idiot, I put it off because I didn't have time to look into it very much. As it turns out, I've decided on the h18 but now it's not on sale.

My budget it now around $500. I really looking for decent picture/sound, user friendly and ease of getting it copied onto a DVD. I'll be making a purchase shortly. Any of you geniuses want to help me out with a suggestion or two again. :)

(sorry I didn't jump on it the 1st time you responded)

If you can somehow manage to increase your budget by around 100 bucks, you can get yourself the Canon HV10.
