View Full Version : Only 1 HDMI input on the TV, what to do?
atcNick 11-22-07, 09:58 PM My TV only has one HDMI input but I have several HD sources that I want to connect to it using HDMI. Is there some sort of switch or splitter that you can buy that would connect them all? If so, what is it called?
Thanks,
Nick
Kal Rubinson 11-22-07, 10:21 PM HDMI Switch. Start with Monoprice.com but there are others. I have a Zektor MAS7.1 which is superb.
I've had no trouble with my Oppo HM-31 3-way switch:

BadAss88GT 11-23-07, 01:35 AM I'm confused, those splitters say 1 input, 3 outputs. Shouldnt it be the other way around, to hook 3 HDMI devices into the 1 HDMI input on the TV?

Nope, the Oppo has 3 inputs and 1 output. You'll output the splitter's output to the television's single input, and connect all your devices to the splitter.
Or, if you want to spend more money, upgrade your receiver now to a unit with HDMI switching capabilities.
I just bought monoprice 3input-1output. Works well for the $.
Cheers,
TP.

The monoprice 2x1 that I have is works both ways, 2 in 1 out or 1 in 2 out. They're just a switch to change the connections.

Oppo has my vote. Easy to use, easy to set-up. Looks good in the cabinet also.
atcNick 11-25-07, 08:04 AM Is this $39 switch from monoprice any good: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&p_id=3029&seq=1&format=1#largeimage
Thanks,
It work's but not as well as the Oppo one. There are some handshaking issues with the monoprice one.
Adam12Hicks 11-26-07, 04:03 PM Or do an HDMI switching receiver... then you can do some upconversion for your non-HDMI sources, and you will have less remote control programming / macros to deal with. And one less component to fail.
That being said, you won't find any HDMI upconverting receivers for $39 :) But then again, you'll get a nice new receiver out of the deal!
I have this problem. Panasonic PTAX100U with a DVI output which is connected to an HDMI. Do I need an HDMI switch for my PS3 blu ray and HD cable box?
Thanks Jay I
Actually it is my plasma that has DVI to HDMI
obiwopkenobi62 12-04-07, 02:55 PM I bought a Monoprice 5 input/1 output HDMI switcher for 50.00. It works great and comes with a remote. The other great thing is that my Logitech Harmony 880 remote controls it no problem.
