Hi, I've lurked for a while, now I've got some questions.

My Sony 1031Q recently, after not being used for a few days, stopped working. I press power, the power light flashes, something makes a little starting up sort of noise, but the fans never spin. I looked around inside all over, but specifically at the GA power supply board. I was looking for obviously bad capacitors or a blown fuse, but without knowing exactly where to look I didn't find anything. If I start it with the on button on the back rather than the front it will only even flash the power light once then it has to be turned off and on at the front again. Not even a flash from the tubes.

I did notice that my rasters are actually in decent enough shape, I expected them to be bad, but for being in use very regularly for a year, and being bought used, I would have expected worse. IIRC they are about a 7 on the tube rating chart on curtpalme.com, though I was tired and angry at the time. There is some fungus on the red tube, but very low. Could I expect to sell these? How much could I get? What about the lenses? I also have an exetron sync converter, what about that?

Thanks

Try unscrewing the top circuit board and then power up the machine. I had a similiar problem and then realized I had screwed the top board in the wrong hole so it was touching something causing the PJ to power down after a second.
Hope it works.

There are 4 small fuses on the small board right over the Ga board. One might be blown but I doubt it. The Ga board is either bad, or the set has a short in it, preventing the set from coming on.

At this point the SD187 tubes even with slight wear are worth maybe $10 tops each on eBay. Everyone is selling off their low end CRTs for digital or higher end CRTs. I sold my last mint 1031 for $250 with a warranty, and that was to a local club. I haven't sold one into a home theater for probably 2 years.

I sell my SD187s that are worn off in lots on eBay now at $10 with no reserve. The last two lots didn't sell until I listed them for the third time..:(

Thanks, I'm fairly sure I checked those, but I will again sometime. Ah well... damn.
