My digital cable service is Time Warner South Bay in Torrance, CA (Los Angeles area).

I just had a Cablecard installed in my Sony KDS-R60XBR1 and for the most part it works - I am able to tune most of the digital and premium channels I'm paying for. However, I am unable to tune any of the standard-def East Coast feeds of my premiums like HBO and Cinemax, nor am I able to receive ESPN2HD or TBS-HD. All I get on those channels are the standard Time Warner screens saying "you need a TW set-top box to tune this channel".

I have verified that TW South Bay does NOT currently employ SDV in their system. Not that the missing East Coast feed channels are terribly important to me, but can anyone here explain why I am not able to tune them although my Time Warner SA8300 STB/DVR can?

Because TWC doesn't offer those channels via Cablecard, you need an STB for them as they clearly state when you try to tune them.

You'll have to ask TWC why don't don't offer them, it was their choice.

Thanks for the URL. I did try to do a search but couldn't come up with the correct keywords. :)

Still, I'm mystified as to why these channels do not show up despite the fact that TW here in Los Angeles has not yet deployed SDV. Technically there should not be a reason why these channels aren't displaying - especially since they are part of a tier that I'm paying for.

They aren't showing up because of TWC, there's no technical issue, they choose not to have them available via CC.
