View Full Version : Rebate Form - 5 Free Movies - Either Format
Lee Stewart 11-23-07, 05:22 PM I purchased my A2 in Jan. Got 3 free HD DVD's. I believe and please someone who made a copy of theirs chime in . . .
The wording on the 3 free form was the same as the later (and current) 5 free form. I believe the disclaimer was the same.
Here is the current rebate form. Blow up the fine print:
"Limited to one family, house hold, address."

If someone did what I did and now buys a 2nd HD DVD player . . . an A3 - same buyer, CC# and ship to address . . .
Is each offer different? They do have a start and stop date.
Or does the one "family, house hold, address" supercede?
Or is it only during the time period that the disclaimer applies.
What about the BD Form?
Have the second batch shipped to a friends house.
Worked for me:D
backpackgirl 11-23-07, 05:32 PM I use to work for a rebate company. And if the rebate stipulates "one rebate per household, address", they mean it. You can try. Some rebate companies let it slide. However. If you know of a friend or maybe your work who wouldn't mind allowing you to use their address you can do that.

Not my personal concern - had Mom order it on her CC and shipped to her house . . . just in case:)
I was thinking about those who may have purchased more than 1 player this weekend because of the sales (someone mentioned he bought 2 at the same time as gifts) and for those who can't use a second party.
We really need to hear from someone who bought at the beginning of the current offer (10/1) and has either received the five free or called and verified that the rebate offer was accepted. I am very close to pulling the trigger on the Amazon A3 offer, but if I won't get the five free it's a deal breaker. I realize that I could ask my neighbor/lawyer/boss/step-brother/mailman/dentist/pool cleaner/mechanic/etc. to order it with their credit card and have it shipped to them; but I don't need it that bad. :)
Lee Stewart 11-23-07, 06:40 PM The BD rebate form is worded a little different. The disclaimer starts with;
"Limit 1 redemption per household."

EnjoyLife 11-23-07, 07:05 PM I called the rebate center for HD DVD two or three days ago. They mentioned that this would qualify as a different rebate and I would be eligible for the second rebate.

Thanks! That's what I would assume, but it's good to hear some actual confirmation. My second HD-DVD player is on the way....
Lee Stewart 11-23-07, 07:43 PM FOR HD DVD:
I just got off the phone with Toshiba C/S (800-405-7520) - spoke with a Supervisor named Chris M. Here is how it works:
Each promotion is different - starts and expires - dates on form.
If you bought under a promotion - when that promotion ends - slate is wiped clean. You can buy another player during another promotion - use all your own personal info - you qualify for the rebate.
GIFTS - you buy 1,2,3 - how ever many you want. You give the player to the gift receiver and a copy of your sales receipt. They fill out the form with their personal info as requested on the form and cut out the UPC Code and send the form, UPC Code and a copy of your receipt to the address on the form - they get the 5 free movies.
Not Elligble - you buy 2 players for yourself at either the same time or during the promotion - if you send in 2 rebate forms with 2 seperate UPC Codes - they will deny one of the rebate forms - this is where the disclaimer kicks in.
Thanks Lee! I'm looking forward to my (next) five free.
kevivoe 11-23-07, 08:02 PM The look and sound getting quicker. I sent in a rebate form 1st week of Oct. for an HD-A35 and received my movies today (11/23). Surprised me reading some of the 12 week+ stories.

Yep. Worked for me. Both the '3 free' and the '5 free' rebates, sent to the same address.
Thanks Lee,
I'm still have a question. I got the 5 free movies back in June during that original rebate-- the one with U-571, Rundown, Apollo 13, etc. I don't remember the end date on that form. Now there's a 5 free rebate with different movies dated 10/1/07 thru 2/28/08. Does anyone still have that original form and can you tell me if that rebate expired before this one began. Or do the different movies themselves mean it,s a different rebate?

According to Toshiba - the 10/1 to 2/28 is a new promotion. Slate is wiped clean - you will get the 5 free movies for the current promotion which has nothing to do with the June promotion.
I asked Chris M:
"So if Toshiba has 4 promotions in a year - each lasting 3 months - if I buy a player within each of the promotions - I still qualify for the free movies each time?"
Chris M.; "yes - that is correct."
NOTE: It might help if anyone is giving players as gifts to have the gift receiver put at the bottom of the form in large block letter; "GIFT."
ashley76 11-24-07, 08:41 AM Awesome news!

Yes - no need to send it to your brothers house or have a friend do the transaction for you. The fact that I had my Mom do it (because I misunderstood how the promotions worked and the legal disclaimer at the bottom) - I really didn't have to. I could have done it mysel becuase The Jan. promotion was different than the current promotion.
You only have to get "creative" if you buy more than 1 player within the promotion period.
Darn it! - I should have asked about the Star Trek Phaser remote rebate. I was under the assumption that both the box set and the new player purchase had to be at the same time. I will check on this because it may be a situation where all you have to do is buy them within the promotions stated time period. I will call again and get a clarification on this one also.
Lee Stewart 11-24-07, 09:00 AM OOPS!
I called the 800# to discuss the ST offer - My bad - I am NOT talking to Toshiba C/S. I was talking to the people who actually handle the rebates FOR Toshiba. They are not involved in the ST promotion so they know nothing about it - they only handle the free movies.
Nothing else changes - just who exactly I was talking with - who gave me the info (which is 100% correct). Just to keep things 100% factual.
Toshiba C/S (800-631-3811) is only open Mon to Fri so ST inquary will have to wait. List is growing of people to call Monday for answers:o
