Ok I hope all of you can help me out here. I am moving into a new house that has a finished basement that is roughly 700sq ft almost a perfect rectangle and not like some with an offset room to the side.
I currently have a Mirage BPS-100 which has 2 bipolar 6.5" drivers. In my apartment it sounds really good watching Movies.
I have been looking at the Definitive Tech Supercube 1's and then last night on AVS I was reading about the SVS PB12-Plus which shows it is going for $800 in rosewood and it would match my HT wood molding.

I am reaching out to all of you for your feedback on a Sub that would be around $800 that will sound really good as some times I wonder if my little mirage is limited.

I am running Def Tech BPX's for rears and LCR2500 for the center and Infinity's for fronts.
Since I have not moved in yet and didn't take measurements before hand any assistance would be appreciate.

If you need any more information just let me know and I can post it up.
Thanks for your help!

Assuming an 8' ceiling, that is a 5400cf room. Any single-driver 12" sub is going to be stressed trying to fill that room. You can get better performance with near-field placement, but if you want to have the sub at the front sound stage, you will have SPL issues. In the $800 range, you will probably have to get something from eD or Epik that have larger drivers. But you must like black.

What is near-field placement?

What is near-field placement?Close to where you sit. When you halve the distance between you and the sub, you double the volume. This is the theory, but room acoustics can play havoc with the actual gain. Maybe improve it, maybe diminish it. You just have to play with sub placement.

An HSU VTF-3 MK3 will fill up a room w/6,000 cu ft. With the turbo
even more.

Nearfield means to have the sub close to you, such as behind the
couch. I have the VTF3/3 w/turbo, and MBM-12 at the rear of
my couch. The MBM-12 produces the mid bass frequencies
of 50HZ to 150HZ.

Right now the VTF3/3 is on sale for $629 plus $100 for shipping
and handling. The finish is black vinal, but can be ordered in maple.

SVS makes great subs, SVS with the rosewood veener sounds
like a very good choice.

Good luck....vardo
