For those who has this recorder, have you seen a big difference in picture quality between the 4 hr mode[EP] and the 6 hr mode[SLP]? If so, how?

On p. 39 of the manual, the chart doesn't show that much difference.

Thanks in advance.

It all depends on the source and the program.

If you record from a digital HD channel (even tho you might have analog cable), and the show is a series, not sports, you might not notice much diff. between 3-hr-LP, 4-hr-EP and 6-hr-SLP.

I've used 3-hr-LP on a fast-action James Bond movie, and 6-hr-SLP on "Heartland" (a hospital series), both with good results, but they were on a TNT HD digital channel (downrezzed in my analog cable feed).

If rec. a football game, 3-hr-LP is prob. lowest mode you can use if the game is on a digital HD channel, but it might not be "good enough" if on a SD analog channel.

If you see ANY grain, even slight, in an analog channel, LP and lower rec. modes will amplify that grain, but the much-higher starting quality of digital HD channels allows more liberal use of all the 3575's rec. modes.

As you make more recordings from analog and digital channels, you'll be able to recognize which shows can be recorded at what rec. modes just by the live pic... slight grain in analog means HQ or SP for best results, and sharp edges and brilliant facial features in HD digital channels means most any rec. mode required... except football.

It seems that there is no all-region hack for this model.
