I've searched for this problem occuring among other threads, but haven't found any occurences.

I have a relatively new Sony RDR-GX355. 3 separate times, it has stopped in the middle of recording a DVD-R with the message "Since the title list has invalid information, no more information can be recorded."

When this occurs, the disc is ejected. Upon reinserting, the disc can no longer be read or written to. I've lost one disc that was full of shows I'd saved, and two more discs that have had this occur relatively early. In all three cases, the disc is rendered useless. This is starting to get expensive in DVR-R discs!

At this point I don't trust my Sony anymore to try recording anything else, since I appear to risking whatever other data was on the disc already.

1) Is there any to recover these DVD-R discs?
2) What is happening with the SONY? Is this just a lemon that I should be returning under warranty?

Thanks!

Correction.

It just happened to the 3rd disc, which is what prompted me to post in growing frustration.

However, on checking THIS disc, I can still read the previous show recorded. Yet whenever I try to record to this disc (which has not been finalized and has plenty of space left), I'm receiving the message "Since the disc has invalid information, no more title list can be recorded." This is the same message that suddenly occured in the middle of recording the second show to this disc.

So I still have the first show, but it aborted in the middle of the 2nd, and now the disc is unusable for any further recording.

What is going on?

Chris

I just purchased the Sony RDR-VX555 yesterday with hopes of archiving some VHS tapes onto DVD. With a DVD burner on one side, a VHS tape on the right and a button in the center telling it to copy from the VHS tape to DVD, what else could be simpler... HA! Yeah right! I've wasted 3 DVD-R's. I put the DVD in, cue the tape press copy to DVD it burns about 3 seconds, spits out the DVD and displays the following error: "Since the disc has invalid information, no more title list can be recorded."

What gives?!

Strange stuff. If you're not trying to record copy-protected stuff, and the Sony records on +Rs, try those... may work better.

Nope, just family tapes... meaning we recorded them with our video camera. I think I might have some +R's somewhere... Thanks for the tip. If no workie, it will find itself back at the store.
