just picked up a sylvania 37 lcd today, it has only one antenna input. i am trying to get OTA HD with indoor antenna while getting my standard dish tv channels on the same TV. I have a splitter that you can connect to the tv that shows one connection to the satelite input and one connection for an antenna. before I start my question is will the splitter work for me to get both OTA HD and also get my dish programs. Do I need some sort of antenna selector, a reference is made to this in the manual. BTW this TV is not connected directly to the Dish receiver, it is in the room where you have to program the TV to channel 60. i will be connecting the OTA hd to my receiver via component cables and optical digital cables. i was running my satelite programs through my DVD player on the old tv that I am replacing.

Are you sure your TV is capable of accepting encrypted Dish satellite programs? Possibly you are confusing about the capabilities of the digital tuner connection on your TV it is for receipt of digital programs by your local TV networks and not for satelliete.
The other antenna connector is for local analog or ananlog cable programs.

Well, i dont know, I was referring to getting the dish programs like you do in the room where you dont have the receiver and you get the programs over the air on channel 60.
A regular splitter/combiner is needed, not what you are refering to. Connect up and do channel scan.

solved my problem, got a splitter, connected satelitte input cable in one and antenna in other input, used male to male cable and connected to TV and voila, got OTA HD and satellite programming when I swith to component input and OTA HD in regular channels. Satelite is coming from DVD Recorder tuner.:D
