There's a lot of really decent universal IR remote applications for Palm devices. That got me thinking, has anyone leveraged the fact that the Palm TX has bluetooth to get it working as a BT remote for the PS3. Then I could use the IR function for all my regular gear, and the BT for the PS3 (perhaps even being able to use the mystical PS button)

This would be nirvana, as for way less than something like a Harmony, I would have a universal remote (Palm TX) that has:

Universal, easy to use, IR
BT remote
Web Browser
And a nearly infinate number of other cool features and functions as it's a Palm!

The Palm TX wold be sort of like the ultimate remote control device.

Did a bunch of Googling, etc. and have not found anyone doing this however. Who do I gotta bribe? :)

I've been wondering why we haven't seen more apps like this. It was said that Guitar Hero doesn't use BT on the PS3 because Sony hasn't added support in their SDK for 3rd party BT devices. I think companies must be waiting for technical info from Sony to start supporting the PS3 via bluetooth.

BT devices support various profiles so it's possible that the PS3 requires some hardware support that devices such as the Palm don't have. It would be interesting to hear about what the situation is from someone who has tried implementing.
