I have a Pany 53k DVD player in the box at home. I have a Toshiba 42HL167(1080P/24). I was wondering if the A3 and Oppo 980 will produce the same picture quality for upscaled DVDs(better) over the Panasonic. Obviosly, the HD of the A3 would be a plus. Since the A3 is only 1080i, does setting it to 1080i produce the best picture for a 1080p LCD?

not sure about the A3 specifically -but I found the A20 better at upscaling than the Oppo 980.

I have both - because the 980 can play multiregion.

Oppo 980 is excellent - no doubt - but the A20 is marginally better.

this is for PAL DVDs.

Thanks Mark. I believe the A20 is a different chip and a little different than the A3.
