Presupposing I can't get it repaired under warranty (I bought it in November of the release year), would it behoove me to run out and buy a new one now? I play every day, and I'm pretty sure the new CPUs are available, but if anybody has anything else of an option that I haven't thought about, I'm all ears. Thanks all!

3 year warranty for RRoD, call 1-800-my-xbox and they will send you a shipping coffin.

Sadly enough I know just how you feel Jdog. My 360 died on me 5 days ago after 14 months of stellar service. Seeing those 3 red rings is a sickening feeling huh:(. Luckily, I purchased it from Costco so the exchange process was relatively painless. To top it off, I got the 'new' 360 with a supposedly better fan and an hdmi port. Not to mention the only ones they had in the store had an extra wireless controller (unlike my first one) and it came with 2 games (unlike my first one), Marvel Alliance and Forza 2.
If it works for you financially, I personally would buy one from Costco or any other retailer with a really good return policy or just buy an extended warranty. Because as much as I hate to say it, the QC control factor that I watched people bitch about before I bought mine seems to be a legitimate fault.

They will fix it just make a big deal over it (which it is) and they will.
Yeah, even launch 360s still have another year of warranty on RROD machines. It's a PITA, but a good deal given how cheap of a device game machines are.

Unfortunately I think this is something all 360 owners are going to have to experience eventually.
