Hi!

I have an HD 32" LCD, and a SA 4250HD box.

Current setup. Cable to Cable box antena in :) cable box HDMI out to TV HDMI in.

I just got an DVD recorder...so...

Can I just plug a piece of cable from the cable box Antena out to the DVR box cable in and just use any output from the DVR to the TV?

Could the HD Cable box output the same signal through both the HDMI and antena out @ the same time?

Could the DVR record TV with this setup?

Basically, all I want is to be able to press record on the DVR, whenever something is playing on the TV. I don't care to control it or have it control any of the other devices...

Thanks!

The best way to hook up your DVDR (DVD recorder) is to run the incoming coax cable first to the DVDR, then to the cable box. The DVDR almost certainly only passes through the cable signal, and does not output its own signal over the cable.

Next, run a S-Vid cable, and R/L audio cables, from the STB (cable box) to the DVDR. Run HDMI, or component and R/L audio from the DVDR to the TV, and S-Vid and R/L audio, if your TV has PIP.

Keep your HDMI from the STB to the TV.

This set up will let you record on the DVDR what ever is tuned on the STB, using the S-Vid line input on the DVDR.

It will let you record any analog channel on your DVDR, timer programmed if you like, while watching something else on your STB.

You can select the input on your TV, to select the DVDR, or the STB. If your TV has PIP, you can monitor what you are recording, while watching something else.
