Since Dimension Films falls under the Weinstein Umbrella, technically their movies would be HD-DVD correct? If they ever decided to release any movies on HiDef formats.

Disney also retains a license to use the Dimension label for distribution of the film library it controls. Except for Scary Movie 4 (2006) and anything newer (notably Pulse, Black Christmas, Grindhouse, School for Scoundrels, and The Mist), ALL Dimension titles are Disney movies, and hence exclusive to Blu-Ray (if released). Nearly every Weinstein-owned Dimension film has already been released on HD DVD, with the glaring exception of Grindhouse. B72 11-24-07, 11:38 PM so no hope for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on HD ?? Adam Tyner 11-24-07, 11:49 PM so no hope for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on HD ??Not on HD DVD, no. It's already been released on Blu-ray, though. geko29 11-24-07, 11:50 PM so no hope for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on HD ?? Not unless Disney goes neutral, no. And there's currently no indication that they will. They have, however, released it on Blu-Ray. And not that it matters, but JSBSB is distributed on home video in the US by Miramax, which is 100% owned by Disney, despite being founded by the Weinsteins. About the only thing you could hope for would be for Highlight Film to release it in Germany, then you could import it. But JSBSB doesn't seem like the type of film they'd be likely to release anytime soon. Thus far, Fantastic Four, Perfume, and the two Resident Evils are all I'm aware of them putting out. I wouldn't cry too much about that one, personally. The existing BD doesn't exactly have amazing PQ. And it loses all of the cool extras from the existing 2-disc DVD. The standard definition version (which can be found for six or seven bucks in stores) seems to be the way to go on this title. The source probably is just the DVD transfer. I got it in one of the BOGO offers, but it's easily my most disappointing disc in either format. |
