Hi folks-

My speaker wires are coming through the sheetrock. What are some easy way to make them look a little more presentable rather than just poking through the hole? Covers, grommets?

I would just use speaker wall plates. As far as goin threw the actually wall itself not too sure. Im at that crossroad in my construction.

There are grommets you can use (can't find a link at the moment - sorry). In may case, I have the front wall covered with fabric, so I just have the wire poking through a hole int he wall filled with caulk. The wire then runs down behind the fabric to the floor and comes out under the baseboard.

How about a wall plate with a hole in it? :)

I came across these on Ebay on the monoprice.com store:

Here's the front of the plate w/o cables:

Here's the back of the plate w/o cables:

Just look in there store under the store category "Adapters"
then "Audio/Video Wall Plate".

I used those white plastic rg6 cable feed-thru bushings (purchased at hardware store) to finish mine. Using white 14 guage cl-2 speaker wire, the wire fits through perfect and gives a nice clean finished look.

How bout a plain ol' speaker terminal cup. That is what I'm using in my rear riser for where my buttkicker wires terminate.

Maybe this is what your looking for. Search google for "wall bushing" or "drywall bushing". Click on Google images and see if you find what your looking for.

We used these recessed wall plates with covers (http://www.cinemabuilder.com/products/electrical/recessed-wall-plate.asp), and then painted the cover to the wall color. We then just drilled a hole through the plastic cover for the wire to come out - so all you see is the wire.

Here's a picture showing part of the cover and the beveled frame underneath.

are you talking about front speakers, side, or rears?

i am thinking i will just poke holes for the sides and rear to free the cable through. then mount those speakers over the holes hiding it all.

not sure about my front mains. i dont really want a wall of wallplates or the wire running along the floor.

later.
