View Full Version : AE2000U, Problems, How Many?
I was ready to order the AE2000U, but now I'm hearing more and more about problems with it. I would like to hear back from people who have the AE2000U, and have had zero problems, and what they think of it. And if you had problems, I would like to hear them too.

elmalloc 11-25-07, 09:41 AM dust blob?
Lee Weber 11-25-07, 09:43 AM I have one, am on 35 hrs and not a single issue yet.
40 hours with no issues here. I ran through Avia's test patterns again last night.
elmalloc 11-25-07, 09:48 AM does avia have an HD version out yet? The Video Essentials HD version supposedly only supports 600 scan lines or so.

Robz, did you decide to keep yours? I saw it for sale, was wondering if it was a performance issue.
mikesnapp 11-25-07, 11:17 AM 96 hours and no issues. Mine is from the first shipment.
Irrenarzt 11-25-07, 11:27 AM I have one coming Tuesday. I'm wondering about how you guys come up with the number of hours? Do you have to keep track or does the unit have a built in timer function?
elmalloc 11-25-07, 11:28 AM Built in.
Kenrosencpa 11-25-07, 12:08 PM Mine had a white spot about the size of a baseball. Zero hours it came that way.:(
gkfisher 11-25-07, 01:13 PM 60+ hours, no problems at all. Tested convergence, color uniformity, etc.
This forum has a way of making you paranoid about getting a bogus unit; don't worry that much. All the projectors discussed here (Ae2000, black pearl, sanyo, etc.) are going to be reliable with only a few small percentage of units having issues.
In fact I would guess that half the issue people discuss here would not be identifiable if you were not told how to find the issue (i.e. run this test pattern to see if your projector has x% convergence issues at 4 feet).
Worst case buy one and watch a lot of great movies in the first 30 days to see if you notice any problems, if so return it for another.
briandx 11-25-07, 01:56 PM 25+ hours. Near-perfect convergence, zero dust blobs, perfect color uniformity.
Left Blank 11-25-07, 03:00 PM I have a 2000u with around 30 hours on it. Not a single problem. Great value/pic.
50 hours with no problems. No dust or color uniformity problems.
It is one easy PJ to watch. Fantastic sharpness and color with HD DVD/Blu-ray.
Much better than going out to the theaters. :D
Dizzyboy 11-25-07, 06:12 PM So far so good. Only about 20 hrs in though. Amazing across the board.
obewantx2000 11-25-07, 06:35 PM 30 hours, picture is still as perfect as the first day I hooked it up.
casenpt1 11-25-07, 08:31 PM 60 Hours on mine. No problems at all.
Mine has only 23 hours. There is no color uniformity problem to report. Excellent projector. Color 1 is fantastic. Better than my local theatre.:D
James99 11-26-07, 08:26 AM As I reported in the official thread, I ended up with a greyish circle on the screen (just left of centre) after about 90 hours. It's being shipped back today for replacement.
Only noticable during dark scenes, it's about 2 inches wide on a 106" inch screen.
Andy n la 11-26-07, 09:36 AM 92 hours in great picture no blobs no color uniformity, however last night it seemed to dim a little maybe just me, watched reign over me and it was very dark might have been filmed that way though, nfl is awesome in normal mode, moved to high altitude mode can hear it but could live with the noise if it helps prolong bulb life anyone running in this mode ?

Yep, at an altitude of over 6,000ft, it's a must for me.
I gues I'm just unluckey at 0 for 2. 1st with 1000 model now 2000. Severe pink hue on left of screen, slight green on right. Awaiting replacement from Proj. people

0 for 2?. Too much coincidence. You try with another HDMI cable, component cable, bypass the receiver, HDMI or component switch, video player....?. Maybe is a bad cable, not the projector.
Bye
