Hello. With the 40 gb PS3, can you transfer media files from either CD-R or USB thumb drive to the internal hard drive? Also, can you play Divx or other files directly from a burned CD?

Sorry to bump this. Has anyone played or transfered media files off CD-R or thumb drive?

I've been transferring 1080p Quicktime movie trailers from my 1GB thumb drive to my 40GB PS3. I haven't tried transferring from a CD-R though.

There is no divx decoder on board yet, but I think you can play supported files from a CD/thumb drive and copy them or whatever.

I'm not sure if there was a particular reason for this question, but you could always use a program like tversity to stream any media type. And if you already have it on optical media such as a CD, you could just stream from the CD or copy to the hard drive (probably preferred) and stream it that way to the ps3.

Dive - you have to convert the quicktime trailers first, right? What are you using to convert them? How is the quality (as good as the 1080p ones downloaded from PSN?)?
