I have a ps3 60gig conncected via hdmi cable input #7 on my kv-30hs420, The ps3 is running at 1080i and I'm trying to adjust the common overscan issue of 1080i hdmi using mid3 settings. Now my ps3 does have usb ports so I think I can put one of those cross hatch pattern picture to help in adjusting onto a regular flash drive and access the picture at the main menu screens of the ps3 right?

If so Can someone tell me where to get such a picture so I can do this? Thanks....

when it comes to game systems man you are better off fixing overscan in real time. Like what i mean is throw on the PS3 dashboard (menu, i don't know what it is called, i have a 360) and do the overscan tweaks that way. Everytime i did overscan settings using the built in dvd player of my xbox360 everything was always off ( most likely cause it displays the dvd test disc in 480p, and not 1080i, which is what i use for gaming) I just display the xbox dashboard ( so it's in 1080i) and shrink everything until the whole dashboard is visible, center it then expand until everything is even. Of course i don't know the exact percentage of overscan i'm at that way, but atleast i know i'm not losing any of the picture, cause i can see what part of the dashboard i'm over/underscanning.

But even when i dL/ed some patterns to a cd in jpeg, it was such a crude test and everything was off. The only free patterns i know of are pretty crappy and don't even really give you a number for overscan percentage, they just use colors and say " if you see orange you have 5% overscan, red 10%" so you wouldn't really know the exact percentage you are at anyways I remember seeing some free patterns on the xbox board on here a few weeks back, you can try using them if you want. Let me find the link.

Lets see if this works. Not really sure how to link another post from a different topic here.

Ok I didnt see this reply thanks it went down the threads... anyways So again load up my ps3 and just shrink the HSIZ and VSIZ and HPOS and VPOS also right? Now do i use the MID3 settings for this? Also what if i want to adjust other modes and inputs where do i go without messing up hdmi input 7?
