just wondering how highly people are ranked as they get up in years :D. i play with a guy who is a 37 which isn't spectacular, but i haven't seen anybody his age (mid 30's) even close.

i like using my age as an excuse when i play, so let's see if i'm on to something.

As someone who thought Ninja Gaiden Stigma wasn't THAT hard I think I speak for a lot of 30+ guys and gals that it's more the time than the skill. :-)

I'm 33. Married. 2 daughters. One is 8 years old, that's OK. The other is 19 months old, that's NOT OK (people with kids will let you know if you don't know what I'm talking about).
So I don't have a lot of time to play. I go to bed around 12 am every night and I wake up at 6 am every morning to go the the gym and then to work. So every night I have to decide how much do I need to rest and how much do I need to play :p
Of course in the weekends and I can play for 3 or more hours at night.
I'm Lieutenant, Grade 1 with EXP 76.

I think my highest skill level has been a 5 but I don't play often and whenI do play I suck ;)

I haven't played Halo 3 in at least a month. Offhand I wouldn't even know what my score is. I totally agree (and understand) where rsra13 is coming from. Married, two kids under 10. I probably put more time in playing than my fellow average 30-something dads, but it is sporadic and spread across all genres and 3 systems (360/PS3/Wii gets opened on Christmas, it's a family present).

Back when I was single (and then newly married), I was in a UT clan that was well ranked on the OGL boards, but that seems like a lifetime ago. I will rarely go online with XBL or PS3, you just never know what you're going to end up dealing with. Obsessive profanity, rude children, and ethnic slurs (unacceptable no matter what your race or nationality is) are not how I want to spend my free time. Back in my UT days, it was mostly adults, because kids didn't have the money to put into nice gaming rigs and broadband connections. Now, just about anyone can get on XBL and be a jerk.

I have a good friends list on XBL, people I trust and have had a good time playing online with. Why should I subject myself to the general online populace if I don't have to?

Maybe I'll play some tonight. Truth be told, I much prefer the co-op experience to straight online play, unless it is PC team-based, a la my clan in UT.

I only play once a week at the most, but my win ratio is very high. I usually only lose 1-2 times per session out of maybe 10-15 games.

im a 43 ... my gt is "KY ELLO GOVNA" message me and ill help you guys out, teach you tricks/strats, etc. its beyond rediculous to get to a 50 ive won 6 in a row and lost 1 and i go back down. skill is still improving with everyday. anywho .. i guess im the highest legit rank here?

Lone Wolves 38. I don't have the time anymore to really start going any higher. I really don't have anymore patience, lol.

I'm 41.. I Peaked at 36 in Lone Wolves... Can't seem to hit 37. My 16 year old son however is at 38 and climbing. I try my best to keep up with him.

Same here. I play mostly social games. I prefer having more targets on the map. Better for kills and it also means I can hide. :)

I'm 39 and I just started playing Halo 3 online. I'm a level 7 right now. This is the first time I have played any Halo online and I suck. I have yet to win a game. So far I've only played Lone Wolves. I would like to get in on some team games but I haven't had a chance to yet. 8 year old + 7 month old = get in a quick game when I can.

What's the secret to the melee attacks? I probably lose 80% of all melee fights I get into. It seems like other people can recover and hit faster than I can.

Just forget winning the game and go to the gun turret (don't remove it)...
You will get your Overkill before the game is out and probably still have time to place higher than last.

I'm 40 & have had the game for like a month. I had lots of people over on Turkey day & we were playing 4-way on line. One of my friends 17 year old son (who has never played H3) got ME my first kill online & my first achievement! I am, by far, the worst H3 player in the wold. FPS on consoles in an exercise in futility. I would pay up to 100 bucks for a mouse/keyboard controller for my 360 (or PS3 for that matter).

If y'all are looking for a relaxed on-line gaming community I highly recommend seasonedgamers.com or 2 old 2 play. There are others out there as well but I am most familiar with these two.

It's a great place to meet gamers like yourself who are a little older, married, w/ or w/out children, and who look at gaming a bit differently (i.e. it's not all about achievements and K/D ratio).

The sites have forums, leagues, specific gaming nights for games, etc.

All you need to do is click on the welcome section and introduce yourself. Typically, there is no pre-determined level of participation. You can get involved as much or as little as you want.

heh. I was at a 28 (31 years old) until I went to my mother's for thanksgiving. Going from a very fast cable connection and an RS-1 projecting to a 110" screen to a 20" POS tv and a slow DSL connection killed me. I dropped to a 25 in one night.

You don't want to even know how many quarters I spent on SF2 as a kid, lol. I could of owned 5 360's, if not more :D Needless to say, I got so good at it that I would play for free and the competition would be lined up :cool:

I'm surprised that there are that many people that are level 50. I don't ever see myself making it to 30.

I`m 36 and at level 25.It started getting boring(not enough maps).
I haven`t played Halo3 since COD4 came out though.

if you played a lot of multiplayer early on instead of single player/co-op you could rank up faster, I have a friend that I know is not really that good that is a 40 something only because he went straight to multiplayer and never really did single player

I believe I'm a 20 or 22 in TS and maybe a 20 in lone wolf...haven't played Halo in a while, but I know I'm not stalled out at the level. Don't really know how high I could go...I never really made it past 28-31 in rank on H2. Don't really know what that old rank would be converted to in H3 or even if they are comparable.

I'm 40, a level 38 and still going up. Let me tell you, 50% of your rank is determined by your internet connection.

Don't know if this will help, but I've got my melees mapped to the right thumbsitck (push to hit) That way it's just a matter of mashing the thumbstick when someone's close enough without removing the thumb... Don't know if this helps, but good luck!

The last time I played H3, I think I was a level 15. I'm 30 and with a 14 month old daughter, so game time has been hard to come by. Another good site for more mature gamers is www.daddyplace.com. Its a site full of dads who are gamers. I know, I know, the first time I heard the name it sounded NSFW to me too but the guys there are great.

Halo 2 and wow factor? Now there's an oxymoron if i ever heard one! lol!

Loved Halo 1, and Halo 2 was a serious let down for me and the rest of us now 30 yr old guys who had many a Halo 1 LAN parties (we were 24-27 age then). Halo 2 lost all the necessary skills that Halo 1 had. I'm enjoying Halo 3 much more then Halo 2, but still not as much as Halo 1. I am a 28 in Halo 3, but can easily hang with 43-45 lvl players; i don't play many ranked matches anymore.

I'm 29, just got to level 20 last night. Haven't really played online that much, and I suck at FPS so doubt it will get much higher. :D
