View Full Version : I hate Canada..

....ok, well, really I hate the Canadians in CALL OF DUTY 3..thats right, 3, the WW2 one.

I'm playing I think on Hard or Veteran or something....I can't remember since I started the game a year ago and only picked it up again in the past week, and I've reached a point that I simply cannot get past.

Last weekend I hit the "Furnace Factory" or whatever it was, that man that sure was fun playing it 100 times just to get through it...but now I've found something that is even WORSE, some trenches with some 88's I have to go through...no joke, I've played the level about 100 times now...and can't even make it to the 3rd gun, I've never even seen it :P

Either I get killed outright by some hyper-accurate AI guy that I can't even hope to shoot with my rifle, or (more often than not) I clear out some space, toss a grenade down the trench..then watch as my jackass Canadian companions rush forward down the trench to be blown up by my own grenade, thereby ending the mission due to friendly fire.

I've tried about 200 strategies to get through it, and just cant get the job done.....I get murdered in seconds.

The only success I've had is to NOT let the germans get established, go into the trenches and immediately start shooting guys who run for cover..if they get to cover, you're screwed...if you do it in time, you can kill all the guys as they run to cover as far as the 2nd gun...so the first two guns are baddie-free, but the 3rd gun I've never seen...THANKS TO THE CANADIANS...either they blow up with my grenades, or they get shot as they run out in front of my rifle....or the germans mow me down within 2 seconds as I peek out from a corner.

If I see that @($*D-DAMN "kick open the fence and run down the road" starting sequence one more time, I swear, I'm gonna cross the border and patronize a strip club or something :D

Actually, stay in the U.S. we don't want your money anymore. :D

At least the Canadians didn't just yell, 'Hey there! Stop this and let's just talk about our issues!'

Yes, we're actually quite famous for our "heroism" i.e. running directly into explosions and gunfire. So, in that respect the games does a great job representing us lol.

It became comical after awhile....I finally, finally slogged my way through it..then..to the next section, and finally..to the last section.

And what did I get? 10 F*cking Achievement Points :D

Meanwhile the section I nearly blew through a few days ago as a british commando got me like 30 points :P

I knew people were complaining that Treyarch didn't do a very good job with the game after Infinity Ward went off to do COD4, but seriously.......its not a bad game, it is however truly frustrating in some places.

All COD games are at one point or another, but this one is the first one I've actually contemplated just giving up on :P

Yeah, I was going to say that actually. From my experience all COD games, and I've loved them all, have really frustrating / repetitive parts at some point.

I remember that section. Died a lot. Though the phrase that had me turning and shooting my own guys out of frustration was "We've got to get across this road". But that should have been before the 88s so I guess you didnt have an issue with it.

Best advice I can give is, move up far as you can without getting shot so that your idiot and ever renewable resource teammates can advance ahead. At one point though you may find one guy dug in at the top of a hill in one of the 88 bunkers. Because of clipping he can sometimes shoot you while in the wall so its hard to get him but if you can advance up close enough you may be able to chuck a gernade in there.

As Jack O'Neill says, "When all else fails, try try try try....trytrytrytrytrytry again"

Yeah the game is grinding along...I know I'm close to the end, but there is nothing worse than killing like 50+ guys and then dying because you get blocked by an AI teammate and can't move, or your AI teammate rushes into an area where you just tossed a grenade...and yeah, the clipping problem is VERY annoying...when they can shoot around corners but you can't shoot them at all even if you're lined up, THAT is very frustrating and kind of marrs an otherwise good game.

Anyhow...I have to admit....I got the game a year ago for like $20 bucks...and its turned out to be at least entertaining..the first few levels I hated, but as its likely the last COD game we'll see for some time set in WW2, it's not half bad.

Factory frustration level and 88 in the trenches levels notwithstanding.

Where's whiskey>SLOTH when you need him? COD3, along with munchies and Morgan Webb's jaw is all he talks about. ;)

Somewhat OT, but this is reminding me of why I hate myself for choosing Veteran difficulty on the PC version of COD4. I'm stuck in the purgatory they call the TV station and have died a million deaths trying to get through that level and have been debating lately whether to admit defeat and turn on God mode to get through. Or, just spend the rest of my life trying to get through the endless parade of scripted bots and neverending rain of perfectly placed grenades.

Oh the TV station is CAKE. It gets MUCH worse. I gave up on Veteran and started over.

Yeah these COD games really almost take the difficulty level into the absurd nether regions of gaming hell. At some point these games just aren't fun...and while COD3 has lasted me quite awhile, its because it takes me 100 tries to get through each section of the game. I love games I know I'd play again....COD3 at the current difficulty level I would probably never attempt again.

I dont mind playing smart, staying low and aiming for headshots, because once they open up on you, you die....and having to do that for 40, 50 guys...ok, I dont want to just run into a room and spray everyone while I live happily ever after...but sometimes its just too absurd becuase, in real life, you'd never...for example...assault a trench by running up it...you'd go over it, you'd go around it, you'd flank it...but the COD games force you down a murderous path that, thanks to the odd game glitch, can make progression almost dumb luck........and when you can't pick up vital supplies like GRENADES from your fallen camrades (only the odd grenade shows up here and there, usually from the enemy), it makes it even more difficult.

Great game, but I got so sick of the intermission videos (that you couldn't skip through) that I haven't been interested in beating the game on veteran.

If it's the large 2-level room inside the TV station, then you need to flash and run to the side rooms along your right. Once you get to the section that is opposite from where you entered, hold back and only kill off bad guys that follow you. Your team should kill off most (if not all) of the the guys you just ran past. And as FrankJ.Cone mentioned, it does get much harder

LOL, I've been in every room in that level. My squadmates must be just out of bootcamp because I always end up knee deep in grenades and can't shovel 'em out quite fast enough. I'll give it a try though and see if I can dodge 'em a bit longer.

The issue I have with the game engine is that it just seemed sooo arcadey on the easier difficulty levels and Veteran gives it enough grit that you can overlook the Flood-like enemy behavior. But I may have to swallow my pride and lower it a notch.

Some funny stuff there guys. The level I most remember though is when you land on the beach, scale up the cliffs and then there's the guy yelling "THE GUNS ARE NOT THERE!" as you see the wooden gun models. I had to replay that part over and over and over again.

If I were you, I would restart on Hardened. I just finished the game on Hardened and have no desire to attempt Veteran. Hardened has more than enough frustrating parts that I would imagine Veteran must be absurdly difficult.

I hate how American money is worth less than Canadas. Thats the real problem here this place is going to hell. A dollar is not even a dollar give me a break.

Well we can't blame our Canadian friends for that.....and this probably isn't the place to discuss geo-political world economics, bad bank loans and people who invested their money stupidly.
